Here are a couple of fun facts about some of the vehicles here at the museum
Ford Model T
Did you know that the Ford Model T could run on multiple fuels. A few of the fuels it could run on were gasoline, kerosene, and ethanol. Gasoline however would become the best of the three fuels as it was starting to become cheaper also prohibition made using ethanol the most impractical of the three fuels.
Chevrolet Model F-40
Did you know that Chevrolet Model F-40 was one of the Model T’s main competitors. This is because Chevrolet was able to keep the price low due to shipping dealerships knock down kits, which contained all the parts necessary to assemble the car. The car would then be assembled at the dealership using locally sourced glass and rubber.
Franklin Olympic
Did you know that the Franklin Olympic was a collaboration between Franklin Automobile Company and REO. The Olympic was based on REO’s flying cloud platform but used Franklin’s well known air cooled six cylinder engines. This collaboration happened because both company’s sales had fallen dramatically in the midst of the Great Depression, Franklin Particularly suffered because it sold mainly luxury cars which most people couldn’t afford at the time.
